Product Description

Micronised Gypsum – The Premium Liquid Clay Buster

Break up clay soils. Improve structure. Boost calcium and sulphur – all with an easy-to-use liquid.

Micronised Gypsum is a liquid soil conditioner designed to do what traditional gypsum does—only faster and more effectively. Its ultra-fine particles are suspended in a thick, free-flowing liquid, making it easier to apply and faster acting than powdered gypsum. Whether you’re tackling heavy clay, correcting nutrient deficiencies, or improving soil structure, this “clay buster” gets the job done.

Why it works

  • High-Strength Formula – 25L delivers the equivalent of 1 tonne of powdered gypsum (in terms of plant-available calcium).
  • Micronised Advantage – The ultra-small particle size massively increases surface area, speeding up reactivity and soil penetration.
  • Dual Nutrient Delivery – A powerful source of calcium (16.5%) and sulphur (13%), ideal for crops and lawns craving these essentials.
  • Liquid Format – No spreading, no dust, no waiting—just shake, dilute and pour.
  • Soil Structure Fixer – Ideal for breaking up compacted clay and displacing sodium and magnesium from the root zone.

Where to use Liquid Micronised Gypsum:

Lawns (Buffalo, Couch, Kikuyu & More)

Green-up your lawn while fixing soil from below. Turf often suffers in heavy clay or sandy soils. This product works both ways:

  • In clay, it helps break apart compacted soil and opens up air/water channels.
  • In sandy soils, it “spoon-feeds” calcium and sulphur, both of which leach easily.
  • Use it every few weeks for ongoing improvement or a seasonal boost.

Tip: Great for turf managers or homeowners chasing long-term soil improvement, not just a quick fix.

Gardens (Veggies, Flowers, Trees, Pots)

Easy to use. Powerful results. If your lawn or veggie patch suffers from poor drainage, crusting, or compaction, this liquid gypsum is your shortcut to better soil. It can be watered in, sprayed, or applied through drip irrigation—whatever suits your routine.

Suitable for:

  • Lawns on clay or compacted soils
  • Raised veggie beds with poor drainage
  • Flowering ornamentals needing calcium & sulphur

Bonus: The mix can be sprayed over foliage too, giving a minor foliar boost.

Farms & Larger Properties

A smart tool for modern soil management. Farmers know the value of calcium and sulphur, but traditional gypsum is slow and bulky. Liquid Micronised Gypsum offers:

  • Speed – Rapid availability to crops
  • Precision – Apply through fertigation, foliar, or liquid inject
  • Versatility – Suitable for broadacre, orchards, vineyards, vegetables, and pasture

Common Uses:

  • Clay amelioration in problem paddocks
  • Sulphur top-ups for canola, brassicas, or pasture
  • Managing high magnesium or sodium in sodic soils
  • Correcting deficiencies mid-season without waiting for rain

The introduction of the “clay buster” in liquid form allows ease of application and more precision in placement. A high-analysis source of micronised natural gypsum combined in a free-flowing suspension. The soil conditioning capacity of gypsum is dramatically magnified with the huge increase in surface area associated with micronisation.

The Science Behind Micronised Gypsum

This isn’t just gypsum in water—it’s a finely micronised suspension that exploits particle size physics. Micronisation means:

  • Massive increase in reactive surface area
  • Faster displacement of sodium and magnesium
  • Superior penetration into compacted profiles
  • Easier integration into existing liquid nutrition programs

Each droplet carries a dense load of calcium and sulphur, ideal for quick plant uptake and ongoing soil improvement. It also plays a key role in protein synthesis, root resilience, and improving fertiliser efficiency.

Micronised Gypsum is a convenient and efficient option for delivering immediately available calcium and sulfur in a natural form. It supports protein production in cereal and pasture crops, acts as a reliable midseason supplement for sulfur-hungry plants like canola and root vegetables, and is particularly useful in light, sandy soils that struggle to retain nutrients. It also plays a valuable role in managing soils with excess magnesium or sodium, helping to create a healthier environment in the root zone.

Storage and Handling

Store in a cool dry area out of direct sunlight. This product has been tested to store safely down to 5ºC. Sedimentation may occur below 5ºC. Do not pre-mix or store in diluted form. MMS products are very heavy and every care should be taken when handling these materials to avoid back injury. We have found this gypsum has the potential to attract anaerobic microbes which may make the liquid smelly and turn black if not kept air-tight (sealed) immediately after use and stored in a cool location. It is still safe to use after this, however may not be at its best.

Product Application

Use Area Rate Notes
Soil Ameliorant or Fertigation  10–50L/ha Use higher rates for heavy clay (soil amelioration)
Home Garden 45mL in 9L water Apply 1L/m² every 2–4 weeks

Foliar (Veg/Orchards/Turf)

1L per 100L. Up to 7L/ha depending on crop.  *NOTE: whilst this is a micronised product, we recommend drenching with a watering can or putting it through systems that can take larger particle sizes.
Foliar Vegetables 1L per 100L. Up to 5 L/ha equivalent. Apply weekly or as required.
Foliar Orchards & Vinyards 1 L per 100 L water up to 7 L/ha equivalent. Apply every 2 – 4 weeks or as required
Foliar Ornamentals & Turf 1 L per 100 L water up to 5 L/ha equivalent. Apply every 2 – 4 weeks or as required.
Broadacre Crops & Pasture 1–3L/ha in 60–100L water *depending on canopy closure. Apply as needed
Spot-Spraying 50 mL per 10 L water.  Apply as required
Liquid Inject 2–5L/ha

Dilute 1:3 minimum.

*Use a minimum dilution rate of 1-part product to 3-parts water. Rate will depend on crop, row spacing & soil type. Always consider N & P crop requirements for starters based on reliable soil test data.

Always shake well before use. Maintain constant agitation in tank. Store in a cool place. May become smelly if not sealed.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Shake or stir well before use & maintain constant agitation. It is advisable to pre-mix, adding this product slowly while maintaining agitation in spray tank to prevent settling of solids. Will pass through 200-micron filter under ideal conditions, however, a coarse inline filter (500 microns/35 mesh) is recommended to ensure the delivery lines are free from particle contaminants from other sources. Where higher water rates are required for good foliar coverage, do not exceed maximum product rate per hectare. MMS products will leave a visible residue on leaves and fruit when used as a foliar. Avoid spraying close to harvest if produce is susceptible to staining. Sensitive foliage or plants should be test sprayed prior to full scale application. Frequencies are a guideline only and can be adjusted according to farm practices and/or in conjunction with crop monitoring. Ensure suitable spray conditions (e.g. temperature, humidity, wind-speed), prior to foliar application. Compatibility and/or performance cannot be guaranteed when combined with other products. Jar test for compatibility and spray test on small area before wide-spread use.

Popular Questions

What is Liquid Micronised Gypsum used for?

Liquid Micronised Gypsum is used to break up clay soils, improve calcium and sulphur availability, and aid in soil conditioning. It’s ideal for home gardens, broadacre crops, and pastures.

How is Liquid Micronised Gypsum different from regular gypsum?

Unlike traditional granular gypsum, this micronised liquid version has a much finer particle size, which enhances its effectiveness and allows for easier, faster application via watering cans or spray equipment.

Is Liquid Micronised Gypsum suitable for lawns and gardens?

Yes, it’s safe and effective for use on lawns, vegetable beds, garden soils, potted plants, and ornamentals. It helps loosen compacted soil and improves nutrient uptake.

How much Liquid Micronised Gypsum should I apply?

Application rates vary by use, but a typical garden use is 45 mL per 9 L watering can, applied at 1 L per m². For large-scale use, rates range from 10–50 L/ha depending on need.

Can Liquid Micronised Gypsum be used in fertigation or foliar sprays?

Yes. It can be fertigated or foliar-applied (ideally via coarse nozzles or watering cans). It’s suitable for vegetables, orchards, turf, and broadacre crops. Use proper filtration and agitation.

Why does the liquid sometimes smell or change colour?

The product can attract anaerobic microbes if not sealed tightly or stored in cool conditions, which may cause it to darken or smell. It’s still safe to use, but best stored airtight and cool.
